A Legacy Born from Experience and Passion
The story of Muswenna begins in 1994 with Mr. R.G. Jinadasa, a seasoned tea inspector whose deep knowledge of tea inspired him to purchase a small estate in Galle’s hinterlands. For years, he supplied fresh tea leaves to nearby factories. But his dream went beyond farming — he envisioned a factory of his own, where quality could be controlled, processes perfected, and tea elevated to something extraordinary.
In 1999, that vision came true. Muswenna Tea Factory was established — a significant milestone that turned Mr. Jinadasa’s lifelong expertise into a tangible success. With precision and passion, he positioned Muswenna as a reliable supplier of high-quality bulk tea to the Sri Lankan tea auction — a critical node in the global Ceylon tea supply chain.
🍃 The Next Generation: A Brand with a Global Vision
The legacy grew stronger when Mr. Malith, the founder’s son, stepped into the business. With a forward-thinking mindset, he modernized operations and added a new dimension to the family legacy: branding.
In 2015, the brand “The T” was born — a name that says it all. Under the slogan “Leaf of Happiness” the brand focuses on producing premium tea varieties for global markets while maintaining the core values of authenticity, quality, and sustainability.
From classic Ceylon black teas to delicate white teas, flavoured blends. “The T” celebrates the diversity of Ceylon tea while upholding its purity.
