The story of Orchid House begins with its founder, Mr. Yameen, whose journey into the gem industry began in 1998 with support of his family. With a deep passion for gemstones, he frequently travelled to Europe from 1998 to 2007, gaining invaluable knowledge and insight into the international gem trade. This global exposure inspired him to bring that expertise back home.
In 2007, he made a decisive move to establish his gem business in Sri Lanka, aiming to merge international standards with the authenticity of Sri Lankan craftsmanship. Just two years later, in 2009, Orchid House was born—initially as a small boutique focused on gemstones.
Since then, Orchid House has grown into a fully established retail store, offering a wide array of authentic Sri Lankan products—from handcrafted souvenirs and eco-friendly items to traditional wood carvings, recycled paper crafts, jewellery, and cultural artworks. Every item reflects a commitment to local artisanship, sustainable practices, and preserving Sri Lankan heritage.
